3 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

The 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari will start with your transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the home of mountain gorillas in Southwestern Uganda. If your flight lands early morning, our driver/guide will pick you from the airport and take you on a 9 hour journey to Bwindi. Otherwise, you will need to arrive a day before start of the safari.

The journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park will take you through the beautiful rural side of the Pearl of Africa with a lush green hilly countryside that will give you breathtaking sceneries to marvel at enroute.  You will make a brief stopover at the Equator Crossing just outside Kampala City at Kayabwe to take some photos and for a quick experiment that proves the existence of the Equator at that spot. You will thereafter proceed and make a second stopover at Agip Motel in Mbarara Town for lunch. After lunch, you will get back on the road and proceed to Bwindi, arriving at the lodge in the evening in time for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

You will have an early morning breakfast at the lodge in Bwindi and then be transferred to the park head quarters for briefing from Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) officials. During the briefing, you will be informed about what to do and what to avoid during the gorilla trekking experience. Feel free to ask as many questions as possible to feel comfortable with the somewhat physically demanding gorilla trekking experience. You will be allocated a gorilla family to track and assigned guides with whom you will enter the jungle in search of the mountain gorillas. Once you locate the gorillas, you will be allowed up to one hour with them as you watch them go about their day. Coming in close contact with the gorillas is a surreal experience which you will surely enjoy. Remember to come with your cameras to take the best photos of these gentle giants. You will be given packed lunch from the lodge, which you will take during the gorilla trekking exercise. At the end of the 1 hour with the gorillas, you will head back to the park headquarters and be given a gorilla trekking certificate as proof of your participation in the gorilla trekking exercise.

In the afternoon, you will visit the Batwa Community in Bwindi. The Batwa have got a unique way of life that will mesmerize any tourist. They will entertain you with their traditional songs and dances. You might want to come with some extra money to give to them, although that is totally up to you. You will then head back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer Back To Kampala / Entebbe.

After your early morning breakfast at the lodge, you will embark on a 9 hour journey back to Kampala City or to Entebbe Airport in case you have a late evening flight. You will make a stopover at Igongo Cultural Centre in Mbarara for lunch and to learn about the Ankole Culture. You will proceed and make another stopover at the Equator Crossing at Kayabwe to take more photos and to buy souvenirs to take back home. The driver/guide will then take you back at your place of residence in Kampala or to Entebbe Airport.
